About the course
Image’s Christian Pregnancy Counselling Skills course aims to explore the basic counselling skills and information areas needed to support people facing pregnancy, abortion and decision-making. Its purpose is to provide a foundation for Christians working, or seeking to work, in pregnancy centres, community based church projects and related areas of ministry. The course is accompanied by a training manual which will be a valuable resource for individuals, churches and centres.
Online - Course Structure
There are five modules which run at monthly intervals.
This 60 hour course is organised into the following modes of learning:
- Home learning - 2.5 hours (completed BEFORE each module) Total 12.5 hours
- Zoom learning - 5.5 hours per module (Friday evening and Saturday morning) which includes tutor groups, presentation and skills work in trios Total 27.5 hours
- Personal study - 4 hours (completed AFTER each module). This involves writing four assignments, reading at least two books and journaling. Total 20 hours
Course Qualification
The course is recognised by Open Awards at levels 2 and 3 as a 60-hour course (6 unit credits) in image's Pregnancy Counselling Skills. Image is also a training member of the Association of Christians in Counselling and Linked Professions (since 2001) and a recognised centre for Open Awards (since 2000). We are quality reviewed by Open Awards each year and the course runs with our own Authorised Internal Verifiers (AIVs).
Course Tutors
The course is run by a team of tutors and each learner will be in a tutor group where they will be able to receive regular help and feedback. Any comments about the course can be fed back through the tutors.
Please note that completing the Pregnancy Counselling Skills training does not automatically qualify you to work in a pregnancy centre. Volunteering is subject to the policies and procedures of individual centres.

Venue
