Image is currently working with three key training courses: the first is a well-established pregnancy skills course which has been running successfully for over 15 years; the second is a post-abortion/child loss course running for the first time in 2017, and the third (new in 2015) is designed to equip those wanting to run image courses in their region. Below is some basic information about each of the courses.
Pregnancy Counselling Skills (PCS)
This is a 60-hour course recognised by Open Awards at Levels 2 & 3 and by the Association of Christian Counsellors as a pastoral care with counselling skills course.
Image’s Christian pregnancy counselling skills course aims to explore the basic counselling skills and information areas needed to support people facing pregnancy, abortion and decision-making. Its purpose is to provide a foundation for Christians working, or seeking to work, in pregnancy centres, community based church projects and related areas of ministry. The course is accompanied by a training manual which will be a valuable resource for individuals, churches and centres.
Post-abortion and Child loss (PA/CL)
This is a 60-hour course is recognised by Open Awards at Levels 2 & 3 and by the Association of Christian Counsellors as a pastoral care with counselling skills course.
Image's Post-abortion and Child loss course is designed to equip those wanting to facilitate image's Step by Step Programme with clients (in particular, Christian pregnancy centre workers and others in relevant pastoral or professional roles). The Step by Step programme is for use with clients following abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, child loss or child separation, where the loss is not immediate (i.e. it was at least 3-6 months ago). The training takes trainees on their own journey through the ten steps of the Step by Step Programme.
Training Trainers Course
Image's Training Trainers course is designed to equip those wanting to run either of the above courses in their own region. Applicants for the Training Trainers course are required to be Christians who are passionate about this area of work, have experience in supporting pregnancy and post-abortion clients and have some previous experience in training others. Obviously, having successfully completed the image courses would be a major advantage, but we recognise that some people will not have had the opportunity to do this. Courses take no more than eight trainees and can be delivered in different areas.
