GO-AHEAD FOR THREE PARENT BABIES

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) has approved the creation of babies using the DNA from three people - two women and one man. This highly controversial technique is a means to prevent children being born with deadly genetic mitochondrial diseases which are only inherited from the mother.


The process involves the transference of the ooplasm from a healthy donor egg into a faulty maternal egg. This process may result in the child inheriting the DNA of three individuals: the father, the mother and the donor. The first child created through this technique could be born by the end of 2017. MARIE STOPES CLINICS UNDER FIRE

A disturbing new report by the Care Quality Commission has revealed that Marie Stopes, the UK’s biggest abortion group, has failed to follow basic safety procedures and the commission have reported more than 2,600 serious incidents during last year.


For example, at a Norwich clinic, doctors pre-signed up to 60 abortion certification forms at a time, showing no sensitivity or understanding of the circumstances of each woman seeking an abortion. Read more ………


ABORTION DEBATED IN SCOTLAND 

The Scottish Government has rejected calls to decriminalise abortion up to birth. Several pro-abortion groups are in favour of weakening the current abortion law after Holyrood was granted more devolved powers this year. The abortion law in Scotland is currently the same as in England and Wales. The legal limit is 24 weeks, but if a disability is detected, abortion is allowed up to birth. Read more ……….


170,000 IVF EMBRYOS DESTROYED IN A YEAR

Just as UK fertility clinics around the UK celebrate 250,000 babies born by IVF, new official statistics from Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority have revealed that since 1991 2,315,262 human embryos have been discarded and destroyed during IVF treatment. These figures were recently revealed by Lord Prior of Brampton, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health, responding to a written question from Lord Alton of Liverpool.
